Nature Trails
Much work has been done on the golf cart and walking nature trails. They are fantastic. People are now walking and take daily golf cart rides past the lotus pond, Buddha head, banana circles, ponds, and native trees.
Naturist Family Youth Gathering
Sunsport's 17th Annual Naturist Family Youth Gathering will be July 6-14. Spaces for campers are still available. Children aged 5-17 and their families will experience a fun week of growth and community emphasizing interpersonal relations skills and creativity in a natural environment.
As usual we will have a fun-filled day playing in the sand and surf at a clothing-optional ocean beach, a camp variety show, crafts, nature exploration, canuding and kayaking, non-competitive sports, campfires, and lots of pool time, with individual attention for each camper. There will be special activities best done clothesfree such as a slip-n-slide with paint, tie dye, water balloon throwing, gooey games, and a 10 foot ice cream sundae with as much landing on bodies as in mouths. Workshops on being proud of who we are, body acceptance, communication skills, and conflict resolution will help establish an atmosphere of caring about each other's feelings and positive relationships.
Parents are encouraged to attend the gatherintg participating as much or as little as they like. Most of the favorite counselors will be returning. A gallery of camp photos, articles, and claymation videos from past years are on Sunsport's website. Enrollment forms are also on Sunsport's website. Something a little different this month:
The Shocking Truth About Skin Cancer:
What You’re Not Being Told About the Sun
While the public is constantly told to avoid the sun to prevent skin cancer, what they’re not telling you is that sunlight is arguably the most important nutrient for the human body.
And get this: avoiding sunlight can double one’s risk of dying prematurely, and it also increases the risk of all other cancers.
Sunlight also:
• is critical for mental health
• reduces the risk of breast cancer
• is vital for cardiovascular health
• increases one’s longevity
• triggers the production of Vitamin D
• is vital for proper immune system function
So, why all the fearmongering? The answer seems to be “follow the money.”
A Midwestern Doctor writes:
“A remarkably sophisticated public relations campaign was launched to transform society for the benefit of [the dermatology] industry.”
The demonization of the sun has “allowed the dermatologists to cast themselves as heroes and to stir up as much anxiety as possible about the sun—especially as a psychological investment they had to make constantly putting sunscreen on would make them more likely to go to their dermatologist.”
Moreover, the skin cancer fear campaign has created “a massive sales funnel by being allowed to do a massive number of routine full body skin exams (on otherwise healthy individuals) and hence have a huge pool of potential cancers to biopsy or excise (remove).”
Lastly, the war against sunlight has allowed them “to piggyback onto the fear the medical industry has marketed around cancer to justify charging a lot of money to do something questionable to prevent cancer and having every patient go along with it the second they hear the dreaded ‘c’ word.”
So, there you have it. Now, you understand why they want you to fear the sun.

Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.
