Good news! Most Sunsport residents and visitors have now been vaccinated to avoid Covid 19. Thus, Sunsport's Board has determined that people will no longer be required to wear masks indoors at Sunsport. However, people not vaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask inside buildings and to practice social distancing.

The Mid-Winter Naturist Festival was a great success.
We had a record number of attendees and over 230 activities. All 6 days had beautiful warm weather. At the Closing Friendship Circle, people said it was the best Festival ever. Many thanks to the workshop leaders, the Sunsport volunteers, and the Sunsport staff who worked long hours to produce a smooth running and stimulating Festival.
Contributions from the Festival registration fee will go to the Naturist Society Foundation, South Florida Free Beaches (Haulover Beach), and Treasure Coast Naturists (Blind Creek Beach). As always, the Festival was six days of fun, growth and community.

The Annual Coed Volleyball Tournament
The Annual Coed Volleyball Tournament on February 27th was lots of fun. It is unique in that players are a member of a different team for each game. Karen Fudor and Galt Eaton were crowned queen and king for totaling the most points in the games in which they played.

Rootz NFLuX will be organizing the Full Moon Ritual and writes :
" A full Moon Ceremony is a time to honor all that we have come through as a collective consciousness and be with the community in a way that allows for the walls to come down, and to return with one another in merriment, singing and being"
Each ritual will be different with various participants bringing the season with them, in whatever way resonates at the time, This is a rotational circle with the leaders as to what happens at each circle. Bring your heart, a smile, something to sit on, and perhaps things to share. Know you are welcome, and appreciated.
Location : The Volleyball Court March 18th on a Friday at 8pm

IMPORTANT ELECTION NEWS!
An election for two seats on the Loxahatchee Groves Town Council will take place on March 8th. It is Sunsport's surroundings. Roads and commercial development are issues. All candidates want to improve the quality of the roads, but have different visions of the town's future.
Since there are usually fewer than 500 voters in town, each vote has more impact than in elections with many voters. A recent election was won by only four votes. In case you have not already mailed an absentee ballot, voting takes place at the Presbyterian Church on Okeechobee March 8th. If you wish, talk to Morley Schloss to discuss the candidates.

Good News:
The price Sunsport pays for the collection of air potatoes has doubled to 20 cents ($.20) per pound! Air potato vines are invasive, killing native vegetation. Each potato sends out many vines. Bring the air potatoes to the game room where Morley Schloss or Tom Vuk can weigh them. Then you will deposit them in the dumpster.

The next weekend for young adults will be April 8-10. Save the dates. Coordinator Karl Harris promises another great event.
Sunsport Notes:
The charge for electric usage for standard (water and electric) seasonal sites will be included in the site rent rather than being listed separately beginning May 1, 2022.
At the end of January, Sunsport had 312 Annual Full Time Members. That is a record number. There are also many shorter term seasonal members. Word about wonderful Sunsport Gardens is spreading.
People visit and don't want to leave.
This March, all sites at Sunsport are full; interesting activities are scheduled daily or people can relax by the pool or explore the nature trail. I am looking forward to a month with much fun in a great community.

Please help recycle. Place clean paper and cardboard in the yellow bins and cans, plastics (except bags, styrofoam, and utensils), and bottles in the blue bins. Leave word in the office if you need yellow and blue totes or small bins which can be placed roadside near your site for pick-up. Most important, place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage in the dumpster.
To help Sunsport and the environment, *please deposit aluminum cans in a special bin with a round hole in the top in the main recycling area.
- The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
- The blue containers are for aluminum cans*, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
- Deposit other trash in the large grey or black trash bins with tops.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Hey What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.
