Community Events
|
We had a beautiful Holiday Season at Sunsport. The start was the Music Medley Weekend for young adults. The weekend was lots of fun with a drum circle, workshops, water play and several bands playing poolside. There were many returnees as well as first timers. One of the objectives of the young adult weekends is to introduce new young people to naturism. It was a great success. It was a pleasure to see naturists of all ages intermingling and having fun together.

Santa and his Elves
|
The caroling along the luminary lighted Sunsport roadways is always special. Thanks to all the members who prepared and placed the magical luminaries. On Christmas Eve, the pavilion was full for the traditional Yankee Present Swap. Then Santa arrived with presents for all the Sunsport children, a joyous time for all. Thanks to Santa and all the elves who decorated the pavilion and helped Santa to bring the gifts. On Christmas the pavilion was again full for the community Holiday Pot Luck. The New Year's Eve Dance Party was a huge success, free for the first time in many years, with Chris and Tom Vuk serving at the Smoothie Bar and many contributing snacks to this gala community gathering.

Edible Hibiscus
Those exotic looking leaves outlining the plate are fresh picked here at Sunsport. You can see them growing outside the restaurant in the Edible Landscaping Garden.
|
They are Edible Hibiscus, Abelmoschus manihot, bele or abika, is a nutritious, high in protein, perennial shrub grown for its large leaves. The plant grows up to 12 feet tall, has leaves as large or larger than a plate, and a beautiful hibiscus flower. This plant is extremely hardy, vigorous and abundant. Its also a beautiful ornamental.

The reconstructed labyrinth is attractive and designed to hold up well.
|
There is now a golf cart nature trail in addition to the rerouted on-foot nature trail so that all can experience Sunsport's natural jungle. The Maintenance and Grounds Team led by Roger Byrd keep everything safe and functioning smoothly, not an easy task. You may have noticed the new lighting in the central area and the smoothness of the roads.

|
|
The Office Team led by Theressa Frazier does an amazing job of finding spots for everyone and overseeing the funds. We all appreciate how the Housekeeping Team. Daniel Watier and Missy McCoy keep the showers, rest rooms, community buildings, and rental units incredibly clean. Most important are our community members and guests whose spirit inspires us all.

A word on recycling and trash removal:
Please help recycle. Leave word in the office if you need yellow and blue totes or small bins which can be placed roadside near your site for pick-up. Most important, place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage in the dumpster.
|
- The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
- The blue containers are for aluminum cans, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
- Deposit other trash in trash cans.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Nature and Nurture; what’s natural, instinctual, innate. What’ll do for now. What’ll keep us safe.
These scenes of the mammalian pastoral are set to take our Victorian ideas of motherhood as selfless and self-sacrificial and show it awkward, raw: mother as a brimming cup. A woman in demand, and in danger.
The beauty and complexity of naturalistic, animalistic, instinctual behaviours.
Their commonplace involvement in everyday life.
The meaning they impart about our existence
