Naturist Family Youth Camp at Sunsport starts Saturday, July 14

The always popular Island Brothers reggae band will return to Sunsport to play poolside in the afternoon on Wednesday, the Fourth of July. People will be dancing both in the pool and on the pool deck. I can't sit still when they play. Enjoy an Ice Cream Social and the Smoothie Bar with fresh fruit during the afternoon.

Starting the first Friday in July, there will be a $5 ground fee for the Community Drum Circle evening. As always the event is from 5 pm to 2 am. Drumming is from 9 pm to midnight.
|
|
First time visitors to Sunsport and people camping, staying in Sunsport accommodations, or patronizing the restaurant are exempt from the $5 fee.
|

The Naturist Family Youth Camp at Sunsport starts Saturday, July 14, and continues through Sunday, July 22. Please register your children or grandchildren now. You can find the registration and health forms on the Sunsport website. A description of the camp is at the end of this column.

While many activities are suspended for the summer, Water Aerobics is continuing each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11 am. All are welcome to join in.
Congratulations to Roger Byrd, the Team Leader for Maintenance and Grounds, for becoming a certified Master Gardener by completing a course at Mounts Botanical Garden. His new skills and knowledge will be a great asset to Sunsport.

At its June meeting the Sunsport Board adopted the following policy: "People planning to live at Sunsport must pay the first and last month's rent and the cleanup deposit. Anyone occupying (a) site(s) at Sunsport for 90 consecutive days must pay the first and last month's rent and the cleanup deposit." This is a clarification of existing policy rather than a new policy. People moving to Sunsport must make the payments even if they change sites.
Sunsport now has audio books to loan for people with difficulty reading.
Please place discarded large items such as decking, furniture, and appliances on the edge of the road nearest your site late on Wednesday or on Thursday. Never place such items in the dumpster.

When this column comes out, Theresa and I will be on a trip North to attend the Eastern Naturist Gathering and visit relatives. We will return to Sunsport on July 5th.

Sunsport's 10th Annual Naturist Family Youth Camp will be July 14-22.

Children aged 4-17 and their families will experience a fun week of growth and community emphasizing interpersonal relations skills, learning, and creativity in a natural environment. As usual we will have a fun-filled day playing in the sand and surf at a clothing-optional ocean beach, a camp variety show, crafts, nature exploration, canuding and kayaking, non-competitive sports, producing a claymation video, campfires, and lots of pool time, with individual attention for each camper.

There will be special activities best done clothesfree such as a slip-n-slide with paint, tie dye, water balloon throwing, gooey games, and a 10 foot ice cream sundae with as much landing on bodies as in mouths.
|
Workshops on being proud of who we are, body acceptance, communication skills, and conflict resolution will help establish an atmosphere of caring about each other's feelings and positive relationships.
|
|
Parents are encouraged to attend the camp participating as much or as little as they like. Again this year, Annette and Bettina Levy will be camp directors. Most of the favorite counselors will be returning. A gallery of camp photos, articles, and claymation videos from past years are on Sunsport's website.
