The Midwinter Naturist Festival was a great success. We had a record number of attendees and over 215 activities. All 6 days had beautiful warm weather. At the Closing Friendship Circle, people said it was the best Festival ever.
Many thanks to the workshop leaders, the Sunsport volunteers, and the Sunsport staff who worked long hours to produce a smooth running and stimulating Festival. Contributions from the Festival registration fee will go to the Naturist Society Foundation, South Florida Free Beaches (Haulover Beach), and Treasure Coast Naturists (Blind Creek Beach).
As always, the Festival was six days of fun, growth and community.

Community Events

The Eighth Annual Coed Volleyball Tournament near the end of February was lots of fun. It is unique in that players are a member of a different team for each game. Terry VandeKrol and Danny Hill were crowned queen and king for totaling the most points in the games in which they played.

Earlier that week, the pavilion was packed with people honoring Tex Reutter on his upcoming 100th birthday. Tex is much loved and respected by the Sunsport community.

This does not apply to dogs currently at Sunsport."

None of Florida's State Park beaches currently have clothing-optional sections due to a park regulation.

There are no clothing-optional beaches on Florida's West Coast. In Palm Beach County, John D MacArthur State Park used to have a very popular clothing-optional beach called Air Force Beach before the land was given to the State. A lobbyist employed by several naturist organizations believes that there is now a real opportunity to allow the State to create clothing-optional beaches through pending legislation.
We now need lots of emails to key Florida Senate and House members to support the legislation. Here is a model for your emails:

"Please include Senator Pizzo's language with 'clothing-optional beaches' in the body of the statute of Florida Statute 800.03 as written in Senator Pizzo's bill SB 850. This will ensure that all related bills include clarifying language to state that clothing-optional (nude) beaches are not considered a violation of FS 800.03. Clothing-optional beaches are very popular with both Florida residents and visitors. They are an important economic asset."

Emails should be sent to
Sen. Linda Stewart ([email protected]),
Rep. Amy Mercado ([email protected]), and
Sen. Jason Pizzo ([email protected]).
Copies should be sent to Sen. Victor Torres ([email protected]), Rep. Anthony Sabatini ([email protected]), and Dana Young ([email protected]).
This March, all sites at Sunsport are full; interesting activities are scheduled daily or people can relax by the pool or explore the improved foot and golf cart nature trails. I am looking forward to a busy month with much fun in a great community.

J.F. Willumsen ........"The exhibition will also take a closer look at the motifs in a historical context with a focus on tourism and life on the beach, and finally it will highlight how the pictures influenced our view of a healthy and natural life and by extension our body ideals and our attitudes to nudity."

J.F. Willumsen boys
The summer exhibition focuses on two large Nordic masterpieces by J.F. Willumsen (1863-1958): Children Bathing at Skagen Beach from 1909 and Sun and Youth from 1910. Over a period of eight years, from 1902 to 1910, Willumsen worked at gathering inspiration and materials for executing a large painting with children and youths playing on the beach. The entire working process can be followed through his comprehensive sketch materials, where he worked with a variety of figure compositions, experimented with setting the scene of the landscape and the inclusion of different materials and techniques. At the exhibition, the two monumental masterpieces, which are both almost three metres tall and over four metres wide, will be shown next to each other. A large collection of sketch materials will also be on exhibit, of which a major part belongs to the..........
