The Mid-Winter Naturist Festival, February 15-20

The Mid-Winter Naturist Festival, February 15-20, is Sunsport's and the Naturist Society Foundation's largest event of the year. Sunsport will be full of naturists from all over North America to choose from over 210 scheduled activities. Favorites Armand and Angelina and Faerie Elaine will return. Drum circles, live entertainment, and movies happen each evening, five or six workshops every hour daytimes, and trips to clothing-optional beaches on Tuesday. There will also be skin cancer screening available Saturday. The restaurant will be open for three buffet style meals daily. You can find the updated full Festival program including a description of each workshop on Sunsport's and the Naturist Society Foundation's websites.

Sunsport members who lead at least two workshops or volunteer to help for at least five hours will have their registration fee waived. Those wishing to volunteer in the restaurant, at the hospitality booth, in the office, checking showers and rest rooms, moving chairs, or parking cars should attend a volunteer meeting Wednesday, February 7th, at 8 pm in the pavilion.

Anyone registered for the Festival may set up a booth at no charge in Vendor/Practitioner Row as early as 9 am on Wednesday, February 14th. Vendors and practitioners must supply their own tables, chairs, canopies, etc. as desired. These booths help to enrich the Festival experience.

February Activities

Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort

Although Sunsport's legal name is Sunsport Gardens Inc., we use the title Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort. The Family part is important.
Six families with children live at Sunsport and others live nearby. But that's not all. Children are welcome at all activities at Sunsport. Our Mid-Winter Naturist Festival is the only large event sponsored by a national naturist organization that has a full schedule of activities designed to interest children. Sunsport's Family Youth Gathering in July is a wonderful experience for children with parents encouraged to participate with their children. I am proud that Sunsport provides a safe, healthy resort and community for families.

The Winter issue of the Naturist Society Foundation's N Magazine features an article about healthy living at Sunsport.

February Wrap Up

February is always Sunsport's busiest month of the year. Most camping sites with hook-ups are full as are rental units. However, we always have space for tenting and dry camping. This is a great time to enjoy Sunsport with friends you haven't seen for a while and an opportunity to make new friends.

Sunsport's Steaming Piles of Sh**t

If you've been to Sunsport and went for a walk to the remote regions out back you may have come across piles of organic material.

A romantic view of compost

Florida soil is essentially beach sand. With few nutrients that can leach away with very rain. With the clearing of land and planting a small there is very little soil biome. Over time the tree and supporting vegetation will grow as will the soil biome with it.
Mulching during the early stages of growth will greatly enhance and speed up the process until the trees themselves will be dropping leaves and self mulching.
Several types of mulch at Sunsport - Tree trimmings, horse stable shavings and hay with animal manure and compost

Mulching will also help keep soil from drying out too rapidly in the intense Florida sun.
While garden type vegetables prefer a bacterial dominate biome facilitated by compost, trees and shrubs prefer a more fungal biome
facilitated by wood mulch.
Bacterial Dominant - Fungal Dominant

Lion Country Safari

Recently Sunsport has been able to make arrangements with our neighbor Lion Country Safari to get deliveries of their Elephant, Giraffe and Lion and Tiger manure.
Composted it will be great for garden vegetables and used straight will be great for our fruit trees and bananas.
Residents who want to use some of the mulch in our composting area are free to do so - we only ask you do it outside business hours (8am - 4pm). This is to ensure everyone safety by avoiding heavy machinery being used in the area.

Hey What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.

Art & Naturism.......naturist spirited art

A collection of paintings, sculptures and other works celebrating the human form and the freedom of naturism curated by our friends at Hauraki Naturally in New Zealand

To see the whole collection go here.

Pekka Halonen, Mother and Son

Who They Are:

About us

Hauraki Naturally is unlike most Naturist or Sun Clubs in New Zealand. We do not have our own land or buildings or private facilities. Our "club grounds" are the great New Zealand outdoors! Most of our activities take place in public locations generally accessible by anyone.

We are not affiliated with the New Zealand Naturist Federation or any "landed" club. While those clubs offer great facilities and a secure environment, Hauraki Naturally exists for those who, for various reasons, cannot access those clubs or don't relate to the club scene. Some of us don't even relate to the "Naturist" or "Nudist" label, simply regarding being naked as just another unremarkable clothing style.

Hauraki Naturally is free to join. We have no membership fees, so we are very affordable.
Hauraki Naturally is internet-based and we have members all over New Zealand. Therefore we are not far away! We provide a facility to allow members to organise their own social events with others in their own location.
Hauraki Naturally is open to everyone. Apart from misconduct or inappropriate behaviour, we do not refuse membership on any discriminatory grounds.
Hauraki Naturally is not fixated on "gender balance". We do not refuse membership to single males.
Hauraki Naturally exists for all kinds of Naturists - social types, solo types, "At Home" naturists, - however and whenever you enjoy a clothes-free life, we're here for you!
