Trick-or-Treating on Monday October 31st
Sunsport's children will be Trick-or-Treating on Monday, October 31st, Halloween evening. Meet on the restaurant deck at 6:00 pm in costume with a collection bag. For Halloween treats, you may opt for small toys as treats rather than unhealthy candy. There will be a scary hay ride around Sunsport on Sunday evening, October 30th, leaving from the laundry room area at 8 pm.

Special Notice:
In order to enhance the safety of all at Sunsport, the Board has adopted the policy:
"All members, day visitors, and guests, paying or non-paying, will receive a criminal background check."
The Board also reaffirmed the policy that
"Parents or guardians are responsible for their children at Sunsport."
The July Family Youth Camp has been given a new name to better reflect its nature. It is now the Family Youth Gathering.
There is concern that a large number of people are visiting Sunsport's website exclusively to view the photo galleries, particularly photos of children and young adults. In order to significantly reduce the numbers using the galleries for voyeuristic purposes, people will now have to complete a questionnaire and pass a criminal background check to become members of the Sunsport website.
Only logged in members will be able to view the gallery photos.
Photos of children have been encrypted so that they cannot be easily copied or hot linked.

IMPORTANT:
Sunsport has been hit hard by the inflation this year.
There has been a dramatic increase in the cost of maintenance supplies, utilities, insurance, almost everything. Also, Florida law requires that all employees be paid at least $15 per hour by 2026. The Sunsport Board has decided to raise employee wages by $1 per hour each year until the $15 per hour is reached. Sunsport's wonderful and capable staff certainly deserves the raises.
In order to pay for increased expenses, rental accommodation rates, membership fees, and site rental rates will be increased by 5% commencing January 1st, 2023.
For memberships, the annual couple fee will be raised $39 to $1,029, the annual single fee will be raised $31 to 654, the 3 month couple fee will be raised $21 to $434, the 3 month single fee will be raised $13 to $265.
For year around site rentals, the monthly rent for full hook-up sites will be raised $30 to $629, the monthly rent for standard sites will be raised $29 to $608, the monthly rent for primitive sites will be raised $15 to $307.

IMPORTANT TRASH POLICY CHANGE
The trash area in the northeast corner of Sunsport has been eliminated. Large trash items may now be placed only in the maintenance yard with the supervision of Team Leader Roger Byrd, preferably Monday through Friday.
The trailer holding recyclable scrap metal will be moved to the maintenance area. Plastic bags full of waste should be deposited in the dumpster in the recycling area, not in the maintenance area.
Please use the appropriate containers for throwing out items. Place materials such as paper and cardboard in the yellow bins; cans, plastics except Styrofoam, juice boxes, and glass and plastic bottles in the blue bins. Place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage and small items in the dumpster. Never place plastic bags in the bins since they clog the recycling equipment. Thank you.
To help Sunsport and the environment, *please deposit aluminum cans in a special bin with a round hole in the top in the main recycling area.
- The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
- The blue containers are for aluminum cans*, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
- Deposit other trash in the large grey or black trash bins with tops.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Permaculture Sunsport News

Right Plant Right Place:
One of the most important and often challenging concepts in gardening is to match a plants inherent needs to its environment. In South Florida the most challenging is the varying height of the water table. Where during the winter desert like conditions exist and the water table recedes greatly. with summer rains it can rise over 10' and erupt above the surface in low lying areas. The solution is to find plants adapted to this cycle or to raise the ground several feet above the highest point the water table will rise to.

The Sunsport Permaculture Group has been very active. Recent projects have been enlarging the Community Garden and digging a swale to improve the water flow. The meetings have been well attended. Meetings are twice a month.
Check the website for exact day, at 7 pm in the restaurant.

Hey What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.

Art & Naturism.......naturist spirited art
Sir Edward John Poynter
Not the most exciting guy but a great academic painter.
Though primarily remembered as an academic artist, Poynter's contribution to art history is significant. At the National Gallery, he issued the first complete illustrated catalog of the collection in 1899. As an artist he was frequently criticized by modernists as the embodiment of the stilted "Victorian Olympian," however, his work in art education and art-historical survey texts became the model for the next generation.
A cosmopolitan artist, he did not shrink from portrayal of the nude or works that glorified its sensual qualities, even during a time when this was not popular.
