Young naturists

Winter Wanderland Weekend

The second weekend in December the Winter Wanderland Weekend for young adults took place. The weekend was lots of fun with campfires, workshops, water play and bands playing poolside. There was a large turn out with many returnees as well as first timers. One of the objectives of the young adult weekends is to introduce new young people to naturism. It was a great success. It was a pleasure to see naturists of all ages intermingling and having fun together.

Rootz NFLuX will be organizing the Full Moon Ritual and writes :

" A full Moon Ceremony is a time to honor all that we have come through as a collective consciousness and be with the community in a way that allows for the walls to come down, and to return with one another in merriment, singing and being"

Each ritual will be different with various participants bringing the season with them, in whatever way resonates at the time, This is a rotational circle with the leaders as to what happens at each circle. Please help recycle. Place clean paper and cardboard in the yellow bins and cans, plastics (except bags, styrofoam, and utensils), and bottles in the blue bins. Leave word in the office if you need yellow and blue totes or small bins which can be placed roadside near your site for pick-up. Most important, place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage in the dumpster.

To help Sunsport and the environment, *please deposit aluminum cans in a special bin with a round hole in the top in the main recycling area.
  • The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
  • The blue containers are for aluminum cans*, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
  • Deposit other trash in the large grey or black trash bins with tops.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

How about the name “Drudo” which means loverboy in Italian?! He is still a baby and may be able to come home around Christmas.

Meditation Field Update:

Meditation Field is a magical place to heal and to grow both spiritually and physically. A place to find your inner self and a place to connect to Nature.

Meditation Sign

Buddha Head

Surrounded by a Rainbow Eucalyptus Grove and ornamental bamboo Buddha welcomes visitors. Handcrafted by artisans in Java, Indonesia of Volcanic Stone Powder.

If you are quiet enough, you will hear the flow of the universe. You will feel its rhythm. Go with this flow. Happiness lies ahead. Meditation is key.

Lotus Pond

Lotus Meditation Field
Right now the Lotus are dormant for the winter but come spring they will begin to emerge......

If you never have before, or even if you have, take time someday soon to observe a Lotus and look for its symbolic properties of purity, determination, hope, and rebirth.

The lotus is the symbol of what is divine or immortal in humanity, and also symbolizes divine perfection. The lotus is the attribute of sun and fire gods. ... The lotus's unfolding petals suggest the expansion of the soul. The growth of its pure beauty from the mud of its origin holds a benign spiritual promise.

The Labyrinth

Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. Entering the serpentine path of a labyrinth, you walk slowly while quieting your mind and focusing on a spiritual question or prayer.

What Is a Labyrinth?

A labyrinth is not a maze. It has only one path to the center and back out, which is called unicursal (one line). It has no blind alleys or dead ends as mazes have. The path twists and turns back on itself many times before reaching the center. Once at the center, there is only one way back out.

The labyrinth symbolizes a journey to a predetermined destination (such as a pilgrimage to a holy site), or the journey through life from birth to spiritual awakening to death.

The Marsh

The Marsh at Sunsport symbolizes primal Nature....the home and birthplace of all life.
In the not too distant past, wetlands were regarded as wastelands. Most people felt that they were places to be avoided, and it was common practice to drain them, fill them or treat them as dumping grounds. A study published by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1990 revealed a startling fact: more than half of the 221 million acres of wetlands that existed in the lower 48 states in the late 1700s have been destroyed.
Today, we know that wetlands provide many important services to the environment. They offer critical habitat for fish, waterfowl and other wildlife, they purify polluted waters, and they help check the destructive power of floods and storms.

  • Water Quality: Wetlands act as natural water purifiers, filtering sediment and absorbing many pollutants in surface waters. In some wetland systems, this cleansing function also enhances the quality of groundwater supplies.
  • Flood Control and Streamflow Maintenance: Wetlands along rivers and streams absorb energy and store water during storms, which reduces downstream flood damage and lessens the risk of flash floods. The slow release of this stored water over time can help keep streams flowing during periods of drought.
  • Streambank Stabilization and Erosion Control:Wetland vegetation binds the soil on streambanks and riparian wetlands, preventing excessive erosion and sedimentation downstream.
  • Wildlife Habitat: Wetlands provide habitat for many species of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals that are uniquely adapted to aquatic environments. Upland wildlife like deer, elk and bears commonly use wetlands for food and shelter. Wetlands are particularly vital to many migratory bird species.

Hey What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.

Art & Naturism.......naturist spirited art

Women in Art Nouveau

Women’s roles and status in society developed significantly during the late 19th century (as we explored in our 2016 exhibition Faces of Europe). Women became more independent and a growing number of metropolitan middle-class women enjoyed a disposable income. During the same period, (predominantly male) Art Nouveau artists and designers depicted women in highly idealised, feminine and seductive forms. Slender, attractive - and often naked - women with flowing hair featured heavily in Art Nouveau jewellery, paintings and printed works.

Pamono Art Nouveau Nude Watercolor Paintings by A. Crommen, 1918
by A. Crommen and dated 1918.
Advertising played an influential role in determining how the public perceived women and, just as today, they used the female body to sell lifestyles and products to consumers.
Many Art Nouveau artists used eroticism in their work, none more profitably than the Czech painter and decorative artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). As a versatile designer of wallpapers, textiles, silverware and jewellery, Mucha’s work is instantly recognisable and was widely emulated after two volumes of his graphic designs were published in 1902.
Mucha’s advertisement for the Job cigarette company, shown on the left, illustrates the idea that "sex sells": a voluptuous woman holds a lit cigarette, as her closed eyes and parted lips suggested ecstasy. The very fact that this woman is smoking could be seen as scandalous, as few respectable women of the time would smoke in public.
1905 Young Couple Love -Franz Kupka
In tune with contemporary artistic developments, many artists working in the Art Nouveau style portrayed women mystically and symbolically. European culture’s fascination with psychology and symbolism at this time had its origins in decadent poetry and literature, and the writings of Sigmund Freud. Freud’s theories of the unconscious and the interpretation of dreams offered visual artists exciting new subjects to explore. Many artists rejected the constraints of realism and turned instead to inner worlds.

Franz von Stuck’s 1895 painting The Kiss of the Sphinx
The notion of Woman as the embodiment of purity, or its opposite, was a common theme in art and literature of the fin de siecle period. Women were often portrayed as ethereal, seductive and deadly beings like Medusa and Salome. Franz von Stuck’s 1895 painting The Kiss of the Sphinx (illustrated above) depicts a female creature passionately kissing a man whilst overpowering him with her lion's talons.
The Austrian painter and Vienna Secession member Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was one of the most famous artists of the Art Nouveau era. Klimt’s work, such as the Danae of 1907-08 shown below, often depicted the female nude in a highly decorative and sensual manner. Klimt’s incorporated nudes with precious materials, such as gold and silver, to create brilliant mosaic-like surfaces.
