Trick-or-Treating on Sunday

Sunsport's children will be Trick-or-Treating on Sunday, October 31st, Halloween evening. Meet on the restaurant deck in costume at 6:00 pm with a collection bag. For Halloween treats, I always opt for small toys as treats rather than unhealthy candy. The children and some of their parents seem appreciative. Full Moon Ceremony Gathering

A Full Moon Ceremony Gathering will be held monthly at 8:00 pm in the pavilion.

Leluna and Hridaya who are organizing the ceremonies write:

"The full moon has been celebrated for thousands of years in ancient cultures for its magic, mystery and special energy. It represents a time to gather with the community, release unwanted energies and honor what we have created since the new moon."

The next Full Moon Ceremony will be Wednesday, October 20th.

Future ceremonies will be November 19th and December 17th.

Florida law requires that all employees be paid at least $15 per hour by 2026.

The Sunsport Board has decided to raise employee wages by $1 per hour each year until the $15 per hour is reached. Sunsport's wonderful and capable staff certainly deserves the raises.

In order to pay for the raises, rental accommodation rates, membership fees, and site rental rates will be increased by 5% commencing December 1st, 2021.

Some examples:

For memberships, the annual couple fee will be raised $39 to $982, the annual single fee will be raised $24 to 617, the 3 month couple fee will be raised $20 to $413, the 3 month single fee will be raised $12 to $252.

For year around site rentals, the monthly rent for full hook-up sites will be raised $28 to $598, the monthly rent for standard sites will be raised $24 to $504, the monthly rent for primitive sites will be raised $15 to $293.

Smoking Policy

The Board has revised the smoking policy as follows:

"Tobacco smoking and vaping permitted only in designated smoking areas and sites, but not in tenting areas (Eden, Center, Otter, Drum Circle) or in rental accommodations. Smoking and vaping medical marijuana permitted only on sites and in rental accommodations. Illegal drugs are not permitted anywhere at Sunsport Gardens."

Electric Hook-Ups

As of October 1st, all seasonal sites with electric hook-ups, those without leases, will pay $90 per month for electric. They will no longer be metered.

Please use the appropriate containers for throwing out items. Place materials such as paper and cardboard in the yellow bins; cans, plastics except Styrofoam, juice boxes, and glass and plastic bottles in the blue bins. Place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage and small items in the dumpster. Never place plastic bags in the bins since they clog the recycling equipment.

To help Sunsport and the environment, *please deposit aluminum cans in a special bin with a round hole in the top in the main recycling area.
  • The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
  • The blue containers are for aluminum cans*, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
  • Deposit other trash in the large grey or black trash bins with tops.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Permaculture Sunsport News

Dragonflies Eat Lots of Unwanted Insects

Dragonflies are predators, both in their aquatic larval stage and in their adult lives. The larval stage of dragonflies lasts up to five years in large species, and between two months and three years in smaller species. Several years of their lives are spent as nymphs living in fresh water; the adults are on the wing for only a few months.
Many dragonflies are territorial, defending a territory against others of their own species. Some dragonflies will protect a territory against other species of dragonfly and a few against insects in unrelated groups.

Did you know that Dragonflies mate in a complex, predetermined process? The female dragonfly deposits eggs on floating or waterside vegetation after she has positioned herself precisely with the male to fertilize the eggs and they have flown together in a heart-shaped union!
Most dragonfly females lay their eggs in mud or water. The nymphs hatch within a few weeks and then live in water for up to two years. Because of this, dragonflies are especially numerous near bodies of water, with the ability to fly to and from their home base easily.

Hey What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.

Art & Naturism.......naturist spirited art

Roxana Daniela Ajder

Roxana Ajder’s figurative paintings are based on photos of people, primarily women, involved in the social nudity and naturalism movements.

Games people play II Painting

Her sun drenched paintings contemplate our cultural ambivalence towards nudity and concepts of beauty and femininity: With ebullient nude figures set against natural backdrops, as in Untitled, Roxana paints a vision of women with agency, imbued with freedom. She captures a peculiar element of life with richness and infectious optimism.

Friends Painting
Born in Galaţi, Romania, on October 16, 1991, Roxana Ajder is a contemporary painter currently living and working in Cluj-Napoca. Her work addresses issues related to the ambivalent features of the concept of femininity and beauty in contemporary society. She is particularly interested in the plasticity of the human body.
In 2020, due to her love of art and determination to face higher challenges, she co-founded Galeria de sprijin (www.galeriadesprijin.ro), a charitable art donation platform initiated out of the desire to help hospitals manage the current health crisis.
She worked as an intern at Galeria Plan B in Berlin (Germany) in 2014 and 2015 and at Associazione Socio Culturale ProCultura – RoArte di Roma (Italy) in 2016 and 2018.
