The Flow Harvest Festival for Young Adults was a great success
with the largest attendance in some time. The always popular Joey Tenuto Band returned joining the Raga Band to provide poolside music. There was body painting, fire spinning, tie dye, Soul Gazing, yoga, camp fires, and a number of interesting workshops. Many thanks to Karl Harris for coordinating the event. The need for masks and social distancing did not interfere with the great fun.
The next weekend for young adults at Sunsport will be on the second weekend in December.

The area along the golf cart and walking trails near the labyrinth and lotus pond is now called “Meditation Field". It is increasingly beautiful. View the spectacular lotus flowers, particularly in the morning when they first open.
Watch the growth of the rainbow eucalyptus trees. Coming will be an attractive Japanese style bridge connecting the lotus pond golf cart parking area and the entrance to the labyrinth.

Reminder:
Please use the appropriate containers for throwing out items. Place materials such as paper and cardboard in the yellow bins; cans, plastics except Styrofoam, juice boxes, and glass and plastic bottles in the blue bins.
Place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage and small items in the dumpster. Never place plastic bags in the bins since they clog the recycling equipment.
To help Sunsport and the environment, please deposit aluminum cans in a special bin with a round hole in the top in the main recycling area.
- The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard
- The blue containers are for aluminum cans, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils.
- Deposit other trash in trash cans.
Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Art Gallery
Stay Tuned!
Watch the progress here as Sunsport's Art Gallery comes to life;
see curator Theresa Frazier for information.

IMPORTANT:
We have been informed that the Indian Trail Improvement District will soon be installing a gate at the east end of the section of 40th St. in front of Sunsport (the cut through).
Only equestrians, bicyclists, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles will be allowed through; vehicles including golf carts will not be able to pass through the gate. While this will be an inconvenience to those of us heading north to Northlake or east to SR7, it will be a benefit to those residing on Sunsport's front road since it will mean an end to traffic noise and dust.

Permaculture Sunsport News
Sunsport is building a vibrant permaculture community.

Dragon Fly Marsh
One of the projects of the Permaculture Initiative is to restore one of Sunsports marsh areas.
The marsh is located to the east of the Labyrinth.
Follow its progress as it matures and fills with native plants and becomes a favorite hang out of the local fauna.

Hey What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is a philosophy of design for creating a sustainable human culture. That is, it's a way of thinking about how we set up the support systems around us: shelter, food, water, energy, society and business. Well designed permaculture systems allow us to live as a beneficial part of the ecosystems around us.

How Henri Rousseau Became the Untrained Master of Surreal Jungle-Inspired Paintings
Rousseau’s body of work was criticized by many.
For other people, however, it evoked a sense of mystery and eccentricity.
With one critic remarking,
Monsieur Rousseau paints with his feet, with a blindfold over his eyes.
But the artist claimed he needed
No other teacher than nature,
and pasted all his negative reviews into his personal scrapbook.
The artist once famously said,
When I step into the hothouses and see the plants from exotic lands, it seems to me that I am in a dream.
Many famous artists from history were unappreciated in their time, but French post-impressionist painter Henri Rousseau was particularly mocked by critics for his “childlike” compositions. The self-taught naïve artist became best-known for his lush jungle scenes—despite having never left France or seen a jungle first-hand. Instead, his now-iconic paintings were inspired by children's books as well as the zoo and botanical gardens of Paris.
