Community Holiday Pot Luck Meal will take place on December 25th
December is always a busy, fun month at Sunsport.

The second weekend (December 7-9) is the Winter Wanderland Music Medley for Young Adults. Brandon Steinbrecher of The Tribe has arranged for several bands to play on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings. There will also be a number of interesting workshops. On Friday evening there will be a drum circle with glow-in-the-dark body painting under black lights. Since December 7th is the first Friday of the month, the drum circle will also be the community drum circle so I anticipate well attended drumming and dancing. Although people aged 18 - 30 will have a special rates of $20 for the whole weekend (free for first timers) and free tent camping, people of all ages are welcome to participate in all Winter Wanderland events.
The Bloodmobile will be in Sunsport's parking lot from noon to 3 pm on Sunday, December 9th. If you are able, give the "gift of life".

Of course December features a number of wonderful holiday events. Lighting of beautiful luminaries followed by caroling will be on Friday the 21st. Christmas Eve brings the traditional Yankee Gift Swap and a visit by Santa at 7:30 pm with gifts for all Sunsport's children followed by caroling in the pavilion. Please let the office know soon of children who will see Santa. Contributions for Secret Santa presents are much appreciated and may be made in a jar in the office.
A Community Holiday Pot Luck Meal will take place on December 25th. Please indicate what you plan to bring on the list on the office counter.

New Year's Eve brings a gala dance with live music by Jonnell Coss, hot and cold appetizers, and a sparkling cider toast at midnight. This is the only Activities Committee event of the year with a fee.
Tickets may be purchased for $25 in the office.

Thanks to Francine and Rene Goulet and Makala Larkins for arranging a wonderful Thanksgiving Pot Luck Community Dinner.

A number of ongoing activities are now underway. Water Aerobics are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Line Dancing is Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Poker is Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Yoga is Monday mornings and spontaneously at other times. Dances are some Saturday evenings.
I would like to start Monday evening square dancing soon. We need a few more interested people before we start. It's lots of fun. No experience or dancing ability is necessary. Please see me or call me at 561-791-1361 if you are interested.

A word on recycling and trash removal: For recycling, please use the yellow and blue containers located throughout Sunsport. The yellow containers are for paper and flattened cardboard; the blue containers are for aluminum cans, glass, juice boxes, and plastics except styrofoam, bags, and utensils. Deposit other trash in trash cans. There is no roadside pickup at individual lots. You may also use the main dumpster area. However, please place discarded carpeting, furniture, appliances, or any other large item on the side of the roadway near your lot, not in the dumpster. The maintenance team will pick up such large items. Please secure all trash cans tightly since raccoons are skilled at opening containers and making large messes. Thanks.

Naturally Nude Cafe.......whats cookin

In its continuing effort to provide healthful meals, the Sunsport restaurant is now using an air fryer rather than a deep fryer.

At the request of several people the restaurant has added a variety of flavors of kombucha to its selection of beverages.

Remember that daily ground fees will be $27 starting January 1st. The fee for members of TNS, AANR, FQN, FCN, INF, and Bare Oaks will be $22. The ground fee remains $6 for people aged 18-30 with a student ID or membership in TNS.
If you haven't yet, please register for the Mid-winter Naturist Festival soon. The registration form as well as the full schedule of activities is on Sunsport's website. If you are flying in, reserve airline tickets now to avoid very high ticket prices. The Festival is always our biggest event of the year.

Many friends from the North have now arrived with more people arriving daily.
Many seasonal activities have resumed.

It's a wonderful happy time at Sunsport.

Permaculture SunSport News

Luffa Vine
Luffa is a genus of tropical and subtropical vines in the cucumber family (Cucurbitaceae).
The fruit is cultivated and eaten as a vegetable. The fruit must be harvested at a young stage of development to be edible. The vegetable is popular in India, China and Vietnam. When the fruit is fully ripened, it is very fibrous. Various dishes of gilki are prepared in India and eaten. The fully developed fruit is the source of the loofah scrubbing sponge which is used in bathrooms and kitchens. Luffa are not frost-hardy, and require 150 to 200 warm days to mature.

Here it is growing up into a cabbage palm. Palms make very good trellises for the luffa vines.

Greetings from your new Winter Activities Committee!

Marty Menane, Barbara Skinner, Francine Goulet, and Irene Byers

We are energized and excited, and hope to bring some fun in the form of old favorite activities as well as some new ones. We are also volunteers … so be patient and be nice. ;-) You are key to the level of frivolity we can experience so join with us in creating enjoyable events for all of us this winter.

Returning are many of our favorite activities: water aerobics, line dancing with Barb and Gigi, Petanque, volleyball, square dancing, cards (wink wink), Zumba, yoga. Planned additions include a weekly book/conversation group (info to come soon), a Mardi Gras parade (turn your creative juices loose!), a Gong Show talent competition (should be funny!). We've also arranged with Sunsport management to have an Ice Cream Hour every Sunday because, well, who doesn't love ice cream!?!

If you have a skill or craft you'd like to teach or lead to an interested group, let us hear about it. We can help you put together a 2-6 week class or even a one-meeting event, or maybe you have a class that you've done previously. Woodworking, fiber arts (knit, crochet, etc.), self-defense, dance lessons, weaving, book group. What's your passion? Folks are looking for interesting things to do and learn. Let's take this opportunity to share our skills, interests, and passions.

The Saturday night dances are on! Main Street will be returning to play for our Age of Aquarius Dance in January, and Bobby & Debbie are on board to provide entertainment. Planned themes this year are: Age of Aquarius, The Red Dance (wear red), Mardi Gras, a Country Dance, and Leather & Lace. Many dances will be hosted by Guest DJs. We've lined up a few DJs already, and have slots available if you are interested. Contact a committee member for additional details.

The Activities Committee functions on a small budget from Sunsport but heavily on your financial contributions. (Remember, we also enjoy some of the best rental fees in South Florida.) We will be holding 50/50s every Saturday with all funds going toward activities for us all to enjoy. Perhaps you can make a decision ahead of time to budget a contribution toward the Activities Committee; make it a habit to stop by to the pool area and get in on the 50/50s each Saturday, also throw a contribution into the various jars you'll find at bake sales, etc. We thank you and promise to do our very best with everything you share.
