As you know, Sunsport takes pride in being a healthful resort and community.
In support of this value, the Sunsport Board has established a committee to recommend enhancement of the already health conscious restaurant offerings. The very popular Smoothie Bar has added a popcorn machine. The restaurant no longer serves soda pop, but has added a juicer and kombucha. Use of butter and cream will be reduced and salt completely eliminated in food preparation. (Salt is still available on the tables.) A new stove has replaced a very old malfunctioning one. The restaurant no longer uses a deep fryer.
Your suggestions are welcome; see John Dodge, Mary Beth Hietapelto, Michael Pluznick, or Tom Vuk.
Those of you who remember the time when Cathy Hietapelto operated the restaurant will be pleased to learn that she is returning to prepare some meals.

The Smoothy Bar

on the restaurant deck will now be open Saturday and Sunday afternoons serving fresh fruit smoothies, pizza, hot pretzels, and fresh fruit bowls!
Try out the new replacement pool slide. It has high water park type sides and greater water flow for a faster slide. The weight limit for use is 150 pounds.
Sunsport is seeking part time employees for the restaurant, housekeeping, and front office teams. Preference will be given to people who live at or plan to live at Sunsport. Contact the Sunsport office for an application.

The price of water to Sunsport has increased dramatically.

Please conserve water.
Limit showers to 3 minutes.
If you don't have water in your place, use the sinks in the laundry room for brushing your teeth.
Thank you.

Reminder: Please use the appropriate containers for throwing out items. Place materials such as paper and cardboard in the yellow bins; cans, plastics except Styrofoam, juice boxes, and glass and plastic bottles in the blue bins. Place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster. Place only bagged garbage and small items in the dumpster. Never place plastic bags in the bins since they clog the recycling equipment.

February is always Sunsport's busiest month of the year. All our camping sites with hook-ups are full as are most of our rental units. However, we always have space for tenting and dry camping.

This is a great time to enjoy Sunsport with friends you haven't seen for a while and an opportunity to make new friends.

Sunsport's largest event, the Mid-Winter Naturist Festival, is coming soon, February 14th-19th. Sunsport always shines at the event thanks to the efforts of our dedicated staff and the many volunteers from the Sunsport community.

Permaculture SunSport News

Winter Time
Winter is cool season crop time. Greens, such as arugula, spinach, collards, lettuce, Swiss chard, mustard and kale, thrive. Root crops, such as carrots, beets, onions and radishes, grow well. Brassicas, such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage, form large heads.

Did you know Brassica oleracea is a single plant species that includes many common foods as cultivars, including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, savoy, kohlrabi, and gai lan.
All those plants bred from the uncultivated form, called "wild cabbage,” and is native to coastal southern and western Europe.
