An Abundance of Positive Energy

A wise man once said that man’s positive energy could light up the sun. At Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort these days, the progressive atmosphere and wealth of positive energy could fill the entire night sky with brightness.
In reality, the formula is quite simple. A simple formula perhaps, but one destined for success. Take one of South Florida’s most beautiful natural campgrounds; add tons and tons of hard work; then top things off with the creative foresight to make every aspect of life at Sunsport better. Success can be the only outcome.
The resort has set out on a new path with a diversified agenda of activities. No one group is left out, no one is forgotten. The agenda is not simply seasonal, as some might suspect of a South Florida resort. Throughout the year, winter and summer alike, visitors to Sunsport will find each day filled with activities, each day providing an opportunity to meet people and join in the sense of community so prevalent here.
Sunsport’s freshly redesigned website (www.sunsportgardens.com) is a perfect addition to the resort’s newly energized look. Not only can visitors find and book their own reservations, but they can have a comprehensive glance at the myriad of activities and special events which take place each and every month. The always popular and internationally acclaimed showband “Feelin’ Good,” will be performing on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, to what will most certainly be a packed house. As winter moves into spring, Sunsport will be hosting their Mid-Spring Festival May 4,5 and 6 – a chance to bond and experience the growth and love that has been Sunsport’s trademark for over four decades. According to General Manager Rebecca Enrico, other Sunsport events include a Single’s Weekend each month, themed DJ dances every Saturday night, volleyball-under-the-lights each Wednesday, daily petanque games each afternoon and on summer evenings, and two nature trails, the newest of which is handicap accessible.
Enrico further says that the resort’s latest addition, a fitness center and massage station, will be complete in the spring of 2007, as will the new children’s playground and Activity Center. Also with a focus on children, Sunsport is the co-host with TNS for their first ever Youth Camp (June 26 – July 1st) for children of AANR and TNS members from across the U.S. and Canada. This exciting new event will give children the chance to experience and develop their understanding of both the mental and physical aspects of being a naturist.
Children will have the opportunity the participate in what the adults have been enjoying for almost two decades. Sunsport has long been known as the home of the Mid-Winter Naturist Festival, with 2007 marking the 19th version of this inspiring celebration of love, beauty and growth within the naturist community. At this year’s event, the area was subjected to record-setting cold temperatures, but those below-freezing nights did nothing to dampen the spirits and excitement of those in attendance. Residents and volunteers brought out extra blankets, workshops were shuffled to indoor venues and doors were open to bring festival visitors in from the cold. That’s how a community should pull together – it was inspiring to witness. Not surprising, however, for a place with such an abundance of positive energy. Plans are already underway to make next year’s festival, the 20th anniversary, a blockbuster event. Each year – bigger and better.
As Sunsport Gardens continues to grow in both spirit and scope, one might think fitting everyone in could be a problem. Not so says GM Enrico, “We now have 107 campground sites, an increase of 67 in just this past year. And more are planned.” Again, the progressive atmosphere, the creative foresight.
As with any resort, especially one as comprehensive as Sunsport, being a member is the key to a wealth of advantages, activities and special offerings. Members enjoy everything from reduced camping rates to use of all facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If you should wake up at 3 a.m. and further sleep is elusive, you can head up to the 86 degree water in the pool, enjoy a relaxing swim under the stars, then top things off with a soothing hot tub. But being a member brings about not only access to all the benefits and activities, it enables a person to become part of the Sunsport family, perhaps the biggest benefit of them all.
