February 2017

And Now … a Word from Morley Schloss

The Midwinter Naturist Festival, February 16-21, is Sunsport's and the Naturist Society's largest event of the year.   Sunsport will be full of naturists from all over North America and beyond to choose from 303 scheduled activities.  New this year, talented performers and playwrights LaDonna Allison and Bill Pacer will present six historical and autobiographical one act plays.  Favorites Armand and Angelina, Faerie Elaine, and David Redmond will return.  Skin cancer screening will be available Saturday and the Bloodmobile will be here Sunday.  You can find the full Festival program including a description of each workshop on Sunsport's and the Naturist Society's websites.

All Sunsport members who lead at least two workshops or volunteer to help for at least five hours will have their registration fee waived.  Those wishing to volunteer in the office, in the restaurant, at the hospitality booth, checking showers and rest rooms, moving chairs, or parking cars should attend a volunteer meeting Tuesday, February 7th, at 8 pm in the pavilion.

Other major events for February are the Annual Chili Cook-off and Super Bowl Party on the 5th, the Annual Coed Fun Volleyball Tournament on the 26th, and an appreciation dessert party for people who have volunteered this season on the 28th.  There are a limited number of entry spaces left for the volleyball tournament.  See Barbara Skinner at the volleyball court or leave a message for her if you are interested in playing.  All skill levels are mixed with teams made up of different people each game.

Sunsport is seeking a part time cook and a person to work part time on the grounds and maintenance team.  Preference will be given to people who live at or plan to live at Sunsport.  Contact the Sunsport office for an application.
Sunsport's staff is now organized into teams.  Teams are Housekeeping, Grounds and Maintenance, Office, and Restaurant.  Members of each team work together sharing responsibility to have their areas operate smoothly.  I am very pleased to welcome Tom Vuk as Assistant Manager coordinating all the areas.  If you have requests for any of the teams, please fill out work orders in the office.

Reminder: Please use the appropriate containers for throwing out items.  Place materials such as paper and cardboard in the yellow bins; cans, plastics except Styrofoam, juice boxes, and glass and plastic bottles in the blue bins.  Place large items such as platforms and furniture near, but not in, the dumpster.  Place only bagged garbage and small items in the dumpster.  Never place plastic bags in the bins since they clog the recycling equipment.
