The Naturist Society celebrates the
nude human form as inherently wholesome and natural. TNS promotes
attitudes of tolerance and respect toward the body, and rejects the
exploitation of the body for commercial or sexual purposes.
The Naturist Society views
clothing-optional recreation as essential to body acceptance. Through
clothing-optional recreation participants, be they individuals, couples

better understanding and acceptance of their own bodies, and reap the
social, psychological, and physical benefits of a healthy and natural
way of life.
The Naturist Society believes the
interests of naturists are advanced through education and community
outreach. TNS recognizes it is part of a larger community and welcomes
the challenge of spreading the naturist message.
If you went to Sunsport Gardens during the week of July 20 thru July 27, chances are you at least heard the kids. It was the second annual Sunsport Gardens Youth Camp, and once again this year I was a counselor. This year camp was so much better than last year. The kids that were here were all really amazing, the activities were fun and who could ever forget the trip we took to Haulover Beach.
This year we had nine campers. They had a lot of fun. At closing circle a couple of the kids said there was absolutely nothing they would change about camp next year, and every single one of them can not wait to come back next year. One of the campers suggested maybe having a horseback riding activity next year. I think that would be a pretty cool idea. I won’t forget any of the kids that were here and how much fun we had while they were here.
We had so many activities planned for this year that we didn’t even get to finish them all. We went in the pool at least twice every day. The pool is always a big hit with the kids; can you blame them it was really hot that week. We also had tons of activities that involved huge amounts of water. We had water slides, waterballoon tosses, and relay races, all to cool the kids off. Morley had wonderful workshops for the kids that taught accepting other people’s differences, the change your body is going through, and the difference between things that are different due to age of things and that are different due to the way you were born. To me it seemed like the kids had so much fun that the whole year till youth camp next year is going to seem to take an eternity.
One thing I don’t think anyone, child and adult alike, will ever forget is our trip to Haulover Beach. Jumping in the waves and playing in the sand, what could be more fun? The kids had a blast. (Don’t let any of the adults fool you. They had, if not as much fun as the kids, more). I am sure everyone agrees that we appreciate the lunch and safe trip South Florida Free Beaches provided for us that day. And even though it threatened to rain, the clouds passed right over us for a perfect day ending in a pizza party.
I cannot wait until next year. My mom, who also happens to be the camp director, says that already a group of at least six more kids are planning to come next year. All you sixteen years or older kids that want to be counselors, we will need more that just me. All the fun is over at least until next July.
SSG Naturist Youth Camp was held Sunday, July 20,
through Sunday, July 27, 2008

An Essay by Stephanie
My Life as a Nudist
by Stephanie Reamer
My name is Stephanie Reamer. I am 17 years old, and I am a nudist. My first experience of the lifestyle was in the April before I turned 16, approximately 1 1/2 years ago. At this point I moved to Sunsport Gardens in Loxahatchee, Florida. At first I was a little uncomfortable with taking off my clothes in front of people I did not know. I mean, what if the person started staring at me?
After a little while I realized that it isn't a sexual thing, being nude.
Nudity is self realization. When you're nude you can't hide from yourself. You can't hide anything that you don't like. The people in these places don't care if you're fat or skinny, short or tall; they don't even care if you have a face full of zits. The only thing they care about is if you're a good person.
It's a shame that more young people don't come to the nudist resorts. Most young people are afraid because they don't have the "Perfect Body" but that doesn't matter here. Society today puts way too much stress on the super skinny. I don't understand why people think a size 0 looks good. People my age that are that skinny just look sick to me. If younger people would try coming into these places just once, maybe they would realize that they are beautiful just the way they are. You don't have to be anorexic to look good.
I know that a lot of people in their 20's and 30's are worried because they have kids and they don't want their kids exposed to nudity. I just want to let all those people know that there is nothing wrong with nudity. And guess what else, I bet the kids would like it. My niece is 1 year old and she lives here. Her mother and father are 21 years old. I live here with my parents and my younger brothers who are 10 and 4.
Being nude is about being free. You are free from the judgement of other people. Free from pretending to be something you're not. And free from hot sticky, sweaty clothes.
My favorite part of Sunsport is Friday nights. On Friday nights the camp has this thing called a Drum Circle. They have a fire and people sit around the fire, some of them playing drums, others bellydancing, and others sitting around, hanging out, talking to people they actually like, and listening to the sound of the drums. On Saturday nights they have dances. They aren't formal; there is just someone playing music and everyone is just having a good time. Another thing the camp does is they have volleyball mostly on weekends and on Wednesday night. They also have a game called Petanque. Petanque is a team sport that I don't completely understand. But they play every day and they're always looking for more people to play.
The only problem with living here is that, while there are many children, there aren't very many people my age. That needs to change. I think younger people would enjoy living here. There would always be something to do. And if there wasn't anything to do, you could always go skinny dipping in the pool which is always at a perfectly refreshing temperature.
NOTE: Stephanie Reamer works in the Sunsport Gardens front office and was a
counselor in Sunsport's Youth Camp last summer. She is completing her senior year of high school on line. To address Stephanie's concerns,
Sunsport offers grounds fees of only $6 per day for people aged 18- 30 with student IDs. Young people under 18 are free with permission of a parent or guardian.

Friday, March 02, 2007 LOXAHATCHEE GROVES The concerns here were specific, in keeping with a place that has a particular way of living. Sure, residents at the decades-old nudist community wanted to know how the hopefuls for the town's first governing slate would handle pressure from developers, the budget and hiring the town's first employees.
The Loxahatchee Groves Town Council held it's debate at Sunsport Family Naturist Resort Thursday night. Host and moderator Morley Schloss (left), discusses the format of the debate. (Libby Volgyes/The Palm Beach Post)
The event at the 42-year-old resort attracted about 100 spectators, about half from outside the nudist resort, according to residents. About 30 people were either naked or topless. The rare, innocent mix of skin and politics also drew five media photographers, two television news crews and a couple of newspaper columnists. Morley Schloss, Sunsport's owner and the forum's moderator, asked whether anyone minded having their photo taken. No one did.
